The Coffee Pocket is handmade with sustainability in mind. Each pocket is made on Gadigal land in Sydney by the owner.
The pocket is made from 100% organic cotton, grown here in Australia and skillfully knitted in Naarm, Melbourne. The material is sourced from Circular Sourcing, a business which brings new life to Australian dead stock or surplus material.
Each pocket is made from 100% Australian jersey cotton, chosen for the way it is spun, providing elasticity without the use of polyester or other materials. It is organic and undyed, therefore making it food safe. Each pocket is cut and stitched individually.
The frame is made from stainless steel wire, used as for its strength and durability as well as not rusting. The frame can withstand the weight of the coffee grains and pressure from the water. Each frame is shaped and finished by hand.
The Coffee Pocket is made to last forever. The pocket should be replaced after 8-12 months of excessive use*, however the frame does not need replacement.
Packaging
The packaging materials including, boxes, kraft paper and kraft stickers are purchased from an Australian owned company who provides eco-friendly packaging. The box, kraft paper and the stickers are all 100% recyclable or reusable.
The information card and business cards which come with each Coffee Pocket purchase are printed on 100% recycled paper. The embossed stickers used to keep The Coffee Pocket wrapped up have no ink and are completely compostable. They are made on all natural unbleached sugarcane paper with a compostable adhesive.
